Clive-BarkerClive Barker gained his initial business experience from working his way up with one company. Starting as an office assistant in London at the age of 19, a series of promotions led him to the position of Works Manager of the Manchester operations at 26, and eventually Managing Director at the age of 38 having helped to increase the turnover from £1m to £12m.

Meanwhile the company had been taken over by a large group and he was moved back to London in 1986 to combine 4 other group companies managing a total turnover of £18m.
